Hey, I'm Marrey

The person behind the site

I study media informatics and build websites and games that feel like someone made them on purpose. I do the code, the graphics and the writing myself, with a lot of heart and a soft spot for strawberry matcha.

What makes me tick

I'm 25, I study media informatics, and I spend my time somewhere between code and design. For me that's the same question: how do I build something that actually feels right for the person in front of it?

It started with small websites for occasions in my circle of friends, then games came along: The Fool’s Reverie, an analog-horror RPG in RPG Maker MZ that started as a university project and that we now push forward privately. On top of that, a minigame in Godot for a bigger party game and a Godot project of my own on the side. What I like about it: at the end there's something you can click on that was just an idea before.

Design is part of the work for me, not a layer on top. Colors, type, icons, pixel art: I make those myself, and I notice fast when something sits three pixels too far left. This site is a decent example. It's hand-built in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no page builder.

I can write as well, and I mostly use that for my own things: story and dialogue for The Fool’s Reverie, the copy on my project pages. I've done writing for clients too, but that's the supporting role, not the lead.

How I work

I'd rather ask once too often than once too little. Before I start I want to understand who this is actually for and what should happen afterwards. Otherwise it turns out pretty and still useless.

I'm also honest when I can't do something or when I don't think an idea is good. A happy result matters more to me than a comfortable conversation. And I keep my word: if I say Tuesday, I mean Tuesday.

My take on AI is calm: I use it for research, structure and automation because it takes the boring bits off my plate. Whatever reaches you at the end still goes through my hands though. I rewrite, cut, and read out loud until no sentence sounds like a template anymore. A text should sound like a human, no matter which tool helped along the way.

Where I come from

The short version.

I've been studying media informatics at HSD in Düsseldorf since October 2025. The road there wasn't pure classroom: first I tinkered on my own at home, then noticed I'd rather really build than only talk about it. So I applied, got in, here I am.

  • The Fool’s Reverie, my analog-horror RPG in RPG Maker MZ, originally a university project that a fellow student and I now keep pushing privately.
  • My own Godot game in cozy style, still made of terrain and grey boxes, but already with a heart.
  • Themed websites for occasions in my circle of friends, because a good invitation page beats any group chat.
  • This website, hand-built in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no framework and no page builder. Design, graphics and code are all mine.

A few things about me

  • My first own device was a Tamagotchi, and honestly not much has changed since.
  • I have an opinion about every game, even ones I only played for twenty minutes.
  • Strawberry matcha is the reason this site looks the way it does.
  • I live with two tomcats, and in almost every project of mine a cat is hidden somewhere.
  • I read my texts out loud before I send them. Looks silly, helps a lot.

Curious?

Whether it's a project, a collaboration, or just a question. I don't bite.
